A new study shows that the Tampa Bay area is among the poorest in the nation, with children living in poverty and unemployment in double digits. The study, released this week by the Center for Working Families, a nonprofit advocacy group, said that the area’s economy is based on government spending, which is the highest of all states. The center said the area also suffers from high taxes and few affordable housing options.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback: Jameis Winston

It was announced last week that Jameis Winston, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback, will be suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Winston was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence charges in December 2016. The incident began after Winston allegedly slapped his wife and then dragged her out of their marital home in a state of depression.
