The Iowa football program is going through some significant changes over the next few years.
The first thing to note about the new athletic director Jim Phillips is he’s a native of this state. He’s been here since graduating from Drake in 1971, and before that he coached at Davenport College and Drake University.
Phillips was an All-American defensive back in high school, earning more AllAbout Iowa football.
The Des Moines Register, the Big 12’s official media partner, has announced the new logo for Iowa football.

The new logo, developed by Iowa graphic design firm Studio E and unveiled at the team’s media session Saturday afternoon, will be used on the back of game days' program covers, the Iowan on official team identification and program books and on the Iowa band’s jerseys and other apparel.

A couple of months ago, after Iowa and Illinois played in the 2013 BCS Championship Game on the last Saturday in January, the Hawkeye head football coach was in the process of writing a book. That book, entitled “Iowa Football: The Hard Way,” is scheduled to come out in September, but to his credit, Orlovsky was also thinking about the things that happened the previous fall.
