About Gary Payton.
Gary became our photographer in early 2012, following his career in the entertainment and communications industries. He has traveled extensively to photograph celebrities, events, and sports all over the world. He has made many friends there, and he will always be a part of that community. His photos are some of the most diverse and passionate, and they are a reflection of Gary’s personal and professional life. Gary’s career in medicine started as an emergency medicine resident and was a critical turning point as he turned his talents from the physical sciences to the clinical aspect of medicine. He continued this interest in clinical medicine while pursuing a career in the biotechnology industry as a protein crystallization specialist. This led him to pursuing a career in the clinical pharmacology industry where he helped to create and launch one of the first clinical pharmacology test labs based in the US. Gary Payton is an Associate Professor of Economics at Tulane University. His research is in the field of macroeconomics and public finance. He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Connecticut and an M.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina.
He was awarded a Mellon Foundation Fellowship to study macroeconomic and fiscal reforms in developing countries. His recent book The Economics of Fiscal Incentives was published by Princeton University Press.
