The origins of Belfast date back to the 6th century AD.
The ancient city was one of the four ancient cities - or “royal towns” as they were generally called - that formed the province (or more specifically the north) of the Kingdom of Alba (in what is now the northern Italy).
Belfast was originally known as Brussa (pronounced BRUSS-ah) to the Picts, and they were the first European settlers in theAbout Belfast.org, Belfast, and the Belfast webcomic on the web. It was originally posted in various Internet newsgroups. It has been archived here for posterity.
